Nationwide, animal shelter populations haVe decreased in the last few years, but still remain appalling high. Over 4 million abandoned and stray pets are at risk of dying. As economic conditions worsen, shelter intakes increase. National, state, and local budget cuts threaten the care shelters can deliver.
It's more important than ever for rescues like Scooter's Pals to save animals that otherwise will be put to death because of shelter overcrowding and care needs beyond their means.
Waylon's story is an example of what so many of our pets, through no fault of their own, face in a shelter each day...they too may die in that shelter, terrified and alone.
They do not deserve to be put down.
